About the Products

All MotionMetrix products are built around the same basic concept – analysis of treadmill walking or running gait using depth sensing cameras. Why depth sensing cameras? Because quality 3D motion data can be obtained without body markers, making motion capture easier and faster than ever. What’s more, they are totally affordable.

MotionMetrix For All

That’s why MotionMetrix is for all. But that’s not all. The motion capture part is just the beginning. It’s what we do with the motion data that really makes the difference.

MOTION METRIX 3D ANALYSIS

A complete running analysis and biomechanical profile in less than a minute.

Get a highly accurate 3D Running Analysis in minutes. MotionMetrix is the first of its kind to seamlessly merge fully integrated 3D motion capture with video analysis and a fully automated and intuitive running analysis software. Using 3D depth cameras allows quality motion data to be obtained without body markers, making motion capture easier and faster than ever. What’s more, the cameras required are very affordable.

The instantaneous assessment reports generated mean that you can quickly evaluate performance and injury across different speeds, footwear conditions and fatigue levels. Furthermore, the easy comparison screen allows you to compare previous client sessions so that you can map improvements. It also enables you to compare your client to optimal biomechanical levels or elite runners. 3D analysis has never been so accessible and user-friendly.

The setup is easy to install and consists of a computer terminal and two Kinect cameras that record 3D motion data of a runner on a treadmill. After a 30 second run at any preferred speed 9-20 km/h, a 3D segment model of the runner is generated together with a complete biomechanical running profile that includes running performance, running economy, gait and stride characteristics and force data.

MARKERLESS MOTION CAPTURE

Depth sensitive camera is like an ordinary digital camera but each pixel also contains information about the distance to the object. Therefore, you can digitally reconstruct any object or scene in 3D, quickly and with millimeter precision. We use these cameras to capture running motion.

In contrast to traditional motion capture systems, depth cameras do not rely on physical body markers. Instead, they use a pattern of near-infrared light to perceive depth. In a way, one can say that a depth camera generates its own body markers made of light. Therefore, no special suits or body stickers need to be worn which makes running analysis with MotionMetrix very fast and easy. You just need to step on the treadmill and run and that’s it.

Most depth cameras have built-in motion tracking functionality and it works well for general purpose applications where precision and speed is less crucial. For running, however, the built-in tracking is simply not adequate. This is why MotionMetrix uses its own algorithms for 3D reconstruction and recognition of individual body segments so that the running motion can be described with the highest possible accuracy.

How accurate you may ask? Well, sufficiently accurate to compete with world-leading marker-based solutions.

The Game Ready was so easy to use, all I had to do was put ice and water in it, set the correct compression level and temperature, press play and relax (watch TV shows) whilst getting the benefits of such a great rehab tool.
